Redirecting blacklisted URLs

The URL Redirect feature of SafeSquidâ„¢ is a very popular feature and should be used with some imagination and logic to get the best results.

Redirecting blacklisted URLs

Postby jaraju » Tue Apr 12, 2005 9:49 am

Hi guys!

I have now managed to get URL blacklists to work. Now, is there a way to redirect the users who are trying to access blacklisted URLs to another website, like http://www.cnn.com, instead of giving them a blocked page message: "<site> is in the blacklisted porn category".

Can anyone tell me how this can be done?

Thanks!

Hello,

Create a new file on your linux machine as sent in the attachment and give the path of this file in the File field of the template while create a new rule in the template section.

Open the SafeSquid interface and click on the config option. A dropdown menu will appear and click on the Template option. Now create a new rule as follows by clicking on the Add

Enabled true
Comment Redirecting porn categories
Name pornredirecting
File /opt/porn.html (path of the porn.html file on your machine)
Mime type text/html
Response code 302
Type file
Parsable true

Now, click on the URL blacklist option from the config dropdown menu and create a new rule by click Add under Deny

Enabled true
Comment Redirecting porn categories
Categories porn,adult
Template pornredirecting

Save setting by clicking Save settings from the top menu.
Load setting by clicking Load settings from the top menu.

Thank you.

Can you please give more details of the problem that the users are facing?
What is the exact error that is displayed?
Are they able to access any other websites, apart from the one that you are redirecting them to?
Have you allowed then access to the URL your are redirecting them to?
It would also be helpful if you could attach your config.xml file.

Regards.
