Downloads not available for a short time

Postby Manish » Sat Nov 24, 2007 1:46 pm

 The Downloads web-site "downloads.safesquid.net" is located on EasySpeedy's network.
Unfortunately the network of this datacenter, went down without notice today.

At the moment we do not have a communication from the EasySpeedy people, to predict the revival of services.
However we do not expect this to be a very big downtime window.

We deeply regret the inconvenience caused to everybody.

[For the impatient]:
In case you would like to get a specific download, quickly, feel free to write to information [at] safesquid [dot] net
We'll try and organise something for you ASAP.

 Hope you will understand, and won't mind coming back after sometime and getting your download.

Ok, received this message from the EasySpeedy people:

This morning, Saturday, November 24, our Housing provider, GlobalConnect, lost some of its power which affected large parts of our Data Center.

GlobalConnect is delivering our power which include A and B feeds, UPS's and Diesel generators as to prevent power outages. For some unknown reason we lost both the A and B feeds, no UPS's or Diesel generators were activated, and for some unknown reason no alarms went off. As both our primary and secondary monitoring systems were randomly not powered no alerts reached us.

We consider this incident a very serious issue and we will, of course, investigate this issue very, very carefully with GlobalConnect to make absolutely sure that a similar incident cannot happen in the future.

GlobalConnect is currently working on a report that will reveal the causes and the solutions.

We will revert to you at our first convenience.

Please accept our sincere apologies.
